If you’ve gone for a walk in your neighborhood this month, you may have seen numerous people hunched over their cellphones playing PokémonTM GO— a video game craze that has gotten people off their sofas and back outside.
But did you know that there is a similar game that parents and children can use together? Biba games follow similar augmented reality principles as PokémonTM GO, but extend beyond the entertainment of “catching them all.” Based on guidelines from the World Health Organization, Biba games are designed to get the most out of the social and physical play best created at neighborhood playgrounds.
Rather than the “heads down” play of other video games, Biba minimizes the amount of direct interaction with the parent’s cell phone and instead focuses on using the playground equipment in imaginative new ways. Biba games are fantasy-driven treasure hunts, obstacle courses, and storytelling sessions, with soon-to-be-released titles that focus on schoolyard play and inclusive games.
Biba games can be easily installed on any Little Tikes Commercial playground, and the games are completely free to download through the Apple or Android stores. If you would like Biba augmented reality marker kits on your local playground, you can find them through Little Tikes Commercial at www.littletikescommercial.com/biba or www.playbiba.com
